Why is the City building an overpass at Collins Road now and the state constructing an interchange there less than two years later?

The City is constructing the Collins Road overpass as part of a Collins Road reconstruction project which will require the existing overpass to be widened from two to four lanes. The FDOT has coordinated closely with the City and participated in the funding of the new overpass so that it will be built to acommodate the future interchange and collector roads planned for construction in late 2009/early 2010.

Not yet. It should be done by late 2009.
